Cracked Ice Glass creates a dramatic Glass Counter
Cracked glass has been around in the Glass Industry for some time. Recently, it has been popping up in Design centers and High End Furniture Stores. Cracked Glass, Ice Glass, or shattered glass is actually made using three pieces of glass laminated together. The middle piece is tempered in a high heat oven. Tempered glass, also known as safety glass, shatters into tiny pieces when it breaks. After the three pieces are laminated together, a special tool is used to break, or shatter, the center piece. The clear laminate holds the pieces in place. The end result is a stunning piece of glass art.
Cracked Glass comes in two thicknesses, 5/8″ and 3/4″. Cracked Glass in the thicker 3/4″ is a unique option for a glass countertop. We recently installed this glass counter top as an addition to the clients existing granite counter. Adding a glass countertop to your existing counter is a great way to create a modern look for your kitchen or bar without replacing all of your counter tops. The Glass is installed on stand-offs which can be customized to your specifications.
Cracked Ice Glass comes in a variety of standard sizes for table tops. Cracked glass is made with three pieces of glass laminated together. The middle piece is tempered glass that is shattered to create the look. Custom sizes are available. Cracked or shattered glass can be used for a glass countertop or even shelving.
